Eco Clothes

Eco clothes made by local designers creates a more intimate eco friendly and interesting way to shop. By eco clothing we mean clothes that are made out of organic fabrics or from recycled materials. Many designers use these materials to create unique artistic exclusive designs.

Eco clothes are readily available if you know where to look. Many communities have a pool of artisans that pride themselves on their work and their commitment to the environment.

To find these craftsman go to farmers markets and craft fairs that list clothing in their vendor list.

Another great way to find eco friendly fashion designers, that may not be in your backyard but are still small entrepreneurs closely tied to their craft, is to look to online "communities" such as ETSY.

There are wonderful unique pieces to be found and best of all you can make a connection with the person who created them.

Jennifer Joy Creative works with hemp and hand spun yarns to make her designs.

Herban Devi has a fitted sleek line of clothes in various materials from hemp to organic cotton. Her designs are youthful and fun.

From Canada comes Econica, Fashion with a Conscience. I love her clothing line for its use of colors and soft designs. Best of all, where possible she will custom fit the piece to your measurements! Now that's service.

For a clean line including some baby items, check out Salts, also from Canada. She works in bamboo, cotton and hemp and adds her own silkscreen designs.

There are many other eco friendly clothing options on ETSY so be sure to check them out if you can't find an eco clothing designer in your own area.
