Eco friendly clothing really is a win - win for both you AND the environment.

Eco friendly clothing is more than just organic cotton although that is one direction you can go in. Hemp, organic silk, organic wool and many other fabrics are also eco friendly.

Where to buy? There are many sources online.

District Cotton has some nice casual organic offerings and they are priced reasonably too.

Other eco friendly fashion options include vintage clothes, local designers, eco fashion designers, almost-new, recycled clothing and second life clothes.

When buying new eco friendly clothing there are so many eco friendly fabrics to choose that you will be amazed. From well known eco fabrics like bamboo, hemp, wool, organic linen, sustainable silk, recycled silk, recycled cotton, and organic cotton to unbelievable like, cork, tree bark, wood pulp, sea weed, corn, soy, and stinging nettles.

What Other Readers Have to Say

Beth Brown from Clubhouse "Resale" Shop, St Louis, Missouri

There's nothing more green than "reusing". I know we all hated getting our older sibs hand-me-downs, and secondhand clothing never had the same appeal as brand spanking new ones. But this is not like that at all.

Resale shops offer great labels, styles, old and new, and many times have gone through the clothing to make sure it's clean and stain free.

As someone who has shopped at resale shops for years, I have gotten clothing I would never have been able to afford new, and was able to be much more imaginative with mixing and matching outfits.

So don't fill up those landfills with used clothing, pass it along. Your old suits and dress outfits can help someone go back to work too. They can be the wardrobe for someone who really needs new clothes for a new job.

Just remember the 3r's "Reuse,Rethink, Resale!"
