Sodium Laureth Sulfate - oh no - it's in the bubbles!

Sodium Laureth Sulfate, also known as SLES is the stuff that makes your shampoo lather up nicely. It is also the stuff that damages your hair and makes it fall out - not what you wanted in a shampoo!.

SLES has a drying effect on your skin. This can cause damage to the hair follicle.

Remember our friend dioxane listed at the top of our skin care dirty dozen list? Well, products made with SLES are often contaminated with dioxane so for that reason alone, you want to avoid products that contain this ingredient!.

If you are prone to canker sores, it can make them occur more regularly. So, check your toothpaste and make sure it is SLES-free as well.

Still not sure.....watch this!"

SLES is a scaled down, gentler version of sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS).

You might think that makes SLES a safer ingredient to use but it isn't.

Studies have found that SLES enters your bodies organs and is slow to be removed. That means the negative effects it has on your body, last longer than SLS.

It has been found to mimic estrogen which raises the concern that repeated exposure to SLES may increase your risk of developing breast cancer.

To be safer - use products that do not use this harmful ingredient.
